Gain Network Visibility and Traffic Access with Network Taps
Ixia, recently acquired by Keysight Technologies, provides testing, visibility, and security solutions, strengthening applications across physical and virtual networks for enterprises, service providers, and network equipment manufacturers. Ixia offers companies trusted environments in which to develop, deploy, and operate. Customers worldwide rely on Ixia to verify their designs, optimize their performance, and ensure protection of their networks to make their applications stronger. Flexible, modular and 100 passive fiber taps
Built using fiber-optics, Ixia Flex Tap fiber taps deliver 100% visibility into network traffic and permanent, passive access points while preserving top network performance. That’s because each tap in the Ixia Flex Tap™ family is modular, can support network speeds of up to 100Gbps, and is 100% passive. At the same time, Flex Taps allow you to effectively monitor network performance, avoiding issues of degradation and disruption. Flex Taps are also versatile: each is compatible with all protocols and monitoring devices, and can be deployed at any inline connection on the network without increasing overhead or management workflows.
Provide complete traffic visibility to copper links
The Ixia line of copper taps provides complete traffic visibility and access to any network connection. A copper tap can be deployed onto any inline copper network link, delivering permanent monitoring access ports. The copper tap provides an out-of-band monitoring or security tool, with all traffic as if it were sitting inline. The taps send copies of traffic, including Layer 1 and Layer 2 errors, from each side of the full-duplex network link to its respective monitor ports. Ixia Copper Taps provide network isolation, dropping any traffic that is accidentally or maliciously transmitted back onto the monitor ports. The copper taps are isolated from the network because they have no IP address, eliminating exposure to external attacks.
Ixia offers two models of copper taps:
Make multiple copies of data on a single link
Ixia 1G and 10G Regen Taps enable multi-device monitoring for 10 gigabit and 1 gigabit networks without adding cost for ongoing device management or configuration. For a complete picture of network health, these taps connect up to eight different network management and security devices at any single network location.
Ixia Regen Taps are completely secure, isolated from any external threats, and do not run the risk of becoming compromised like other managed solutions. These devices can be deployed without adding cost for configuration or ongoing management and work right out of the box. Regen taps deliver 8 copies of the traffic on a single duplex link.
In addition, these Regen Taps have SFP or SFP+ monitor ports so they can attach to monitoring equipment with any type of interface: single-mode or multi-mode fiber and copper. Just plug in the appropriate transceiver modules for as many and whatever types of monitoring or security tools you want.
Use a single tool port to monitor both ends of a bi-directional connection.
Typically monitoring of a full duplex link requires the use of two ports on the monitoring tool – one for each side of the duplex link. Tap Aggregators (also known as Port Aggregators or Aggregation Taps) combine traffic into two of more traffic streams, each of which has the aggregated data from the duplex flows and allow network staff to monitor a full duplex connection with a single monitoring tool. Ixia offers three different tap aggregators:
